Belgium (History, Architecture, Politics, Culture and Christmas Markets)

Belgium is a country in western Europe known for it’s medieval towns, Renaissance architecture, WW1 Sites, the Battle of Waterloo, the European Union headquarters, NATO, it’s cuisine and world famous chocolate. The country has many regions including Dutch-speaking Flanders to the North, French-speaking Wallonia to the South and a German-speaking community in the East.

The list of sites, cemeteries, museums and attractions are endless but most well known sites include In Flanders Field and Passchendaele 1916 Museums, trenches at Sanctuary Wood, Tyne Cot and Langemark German Cemeteries. A visit would not be complete without attending the Last Post Ceremony in Ypres.
